The file format itself does not determine how well noise reduction will work.

What matters more is what was captured in the recording.

Cleanup tends to work better when:

• the speaker is clearly audible;
• the background noise is relatively steady;
• the microphone did not clip;
• the unwanted sound is quieter than the voice.
