Canva Enhance Voice Not Working? Here's How to Fix It

Canva includes an AI-powered Enhance Voice feature designed to reduce background noise and improve recorded speech. However, several different problems can prevent you from using it successfully.

• Audio Tools is missing from the editor.
• Enhance Voice is unavailable for your project or account.
• The wrong video clip or audio track is selected.
• The recording contains little or no recognizable speech.
• Enhance Voice is available, but background noise remains after processing.
• The processed voice sounds unnatural or heavily filtered.

These problems require different solutions. A missing button is an interface or access problem, while a disappointing enhancement result may be caused by the original recording. Start by checking whether you can access the feature at all.

Before troubleshooting, make sure you're looking in the correct place. Canva's Enhance Voice control is associated with the selected video or audio track.

   Open your Canva project. Open the video project containing the recording you want to clean.

   Select the video or audio. Click the video on the canvas or select the uploaded audio track on the timeline. Make sure you're selecting actual media rather than text, a background element, or an empty page.

   Enable Enhance Voice. Turn on Enhance Voice. If an enhancement-strength control is available, start with a moderate setting and listen to the result before increasing it.

Enhance Voice is intended for recordings containing speech. If your project contains only music or environmental sounds, the feature may not be suitable. Feature availability and usage limits may also depend on your Canva plan.

Sometimes the entire Audio Tools option disappears from the editor. This doesn't necessarily mean Canva has permanently removed the feature.

Some Canva users have reported that Audio Tools appears in one video project type but not another. In particular, users have reported restoring access by creating a Mobile Video project instead of using an Instagram Story design. This is a community-reported workaround, not a guaranteed fix.

   Create a new video project. Return to Canva's project creation screen. Search for Mobile Video and create a new project.

If the workaround doesn't help, check whether Enhance Voice is available on your Canva plan and whether you've reached your AI usage allowance. You can also try reopening the project or testing another video design.

If Audio Tools remains unavailable across different projects, check Canva's current service status or contact Canva support rather than repeatedly rebuilding your entire project.

Sometimes the feature works correctly from a technical perspective, but the recording still sounds noisy. In that case, the problem may be the source audio rather than Canva's interface.

Speech enhancement is easier when the voice is clearly audible and the unwanted background sound can be distinguished from it. More difficult recordings include:

• Outdoor videos with loud wind hitting the microphone.
• Voice recordings made near a running fan or air conditioner.
• Videos with considerable traffic or street noise.
• Recordings with strong room echo or reverberation.
• Audio containing several overlapping speakers.
• Recordings with clipping, severe distortion, or heavily compressed speech.

Different types of unwanted sound behave differently. A continuous background hum isn't the same problem as a sudden gust of wind or several people talking simultaneously.

No audio-cleanup tool can guarantee complete restoration of every recording. Severe distortion and speech that was never captured clearly are particularly difficult to recover.

If Enhance Voice is unavailable or produces an unsatisfactory result, you can clean your recording separately before importing it back into your video project.

If you no longer have the original recording, export your Canva project as an MP4 video and use that file instead. Remember that an exported video may include music, sound effects, or other audio that you want to preserve.

Removing background noise involves separating unwanted sounds from the voice. When those sounds overlap heavily, aggressive processing can affect parts of the speech itself.

This can produce a metallic, watery, hollow, or robotic-sounding voice. It doesn't necessarily mean the recording is completely unusable.

• Compare the enhanced recording with the original.
• Try a lower enhancement intensity if Canva provides that control.
• Avoid applying several strong enhancement passes to the same file.
• Use the original source recording when testing a different cleanup tool.
• Listen to the processed audio through headphones before exporting the entire project.

The goal isn't to eliminate every trace of background sound at the expense of the speaker's voice. A recording with slightly audible room ambience may be preferable to one with severe processing artifacts.

• Continue using Canva: When Enhance Voice works well and you want to edit your video, combine visuals, adjust the timeline, or publish your project.

• Use both tools: Clean your original recording separately, then import the result into Canva to complete your video.

The tools aren't mutually exclusive. You can continue editing in Canva while using Noisero for a specific audio-cleanup task.
